Face to face to face

Exhibited as part of BEAUT (Brisbane and Elsewhere Art UnTriennial), 2019 this body of work was shown at Kuiper Projects, Brisbane. Presented as five self-portrait photographs with the intervention of a gun belt, this work references specific stories of attempted annihilation and massacres in Tasmania since colonisation. The insertion of natural, strong sinews of bull kelp embedded within the belt speaks to the embedded nature of colonialism and palawa existence through the connection of implied violence and cultural assertion.
