The sculptural and mixed-media installation responds to the visibility, hidden histories and lived experiences of Palawa, Tasmanian Aboriginal, people.
Steel wool-based hanging objects are symbolic of Australia’s mission to white-wash or clean away all traces of Aboriginality.
Texturally, sensuous, bull kelp and fabric objects speak to specific and complex Palawa women’s lived experiences and claim our Palawa womanhood.
I use the personal to explore, expose and speak to broader issues of Australian Aboriginal histories.
