The Country Within

In her solo exhibition The Country Within, Mandy Quadrio expresses her connectedness to place through the materiality of bull kelp, a natural, sea-dwelling plant that inhabits the coastal shorelines of Tasmania. Bull kelp embodies memories and lived experiences of her palawa people and Country. This strong cellular intact membrane holds on solidly to so much that has been disconnected for her, creating spaces in between for her stories to re-inhabit, re-activate and grow new experiences and memories.
