As part of the Hobiennale 2019, the work Here lies lies was situated within the darkened space of the Bond Store Basement of the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG), Nipaluna / Hobart, one of the earliest colonialist overlays of Tasmanian Aboriginal people’s bones and cultures in Trouwunna / Tasmania. The installation focused on drawing attention and illuminating the ongoing lies and fictions of Tasmanian history, acting to counter the myth of Palawa extinction, largely propagated by the Tasmanian Museum itself. Working within the Museum context enabled specific stories to be returned home to Country.
