In this work I am addressing the way non-Indigenous people want to make me define who I am right down to DNA descriptions of my genetic heritage just because I identify as an Aboriginal woman.

The question that has been asked of me throughout my life with repetitive monotony is:

“what percentage Aboriginal are you?”

This insulting and absurd question has inspired this artwork. I am resisting the folly of trying to answer this racist question by inserting my own question into the conversation. My question is:

“what % invaderareyou?”

The repetition of the phrase sets up an insistent question that just keeps going round and round. The connected words demand the viewer look closely and in this way I hope to stimulate some uncomfortable experiences that reflect on my own experiences.
